| Lions Walk Off with Win | The Topeka West Chargers got a superb performance from pitcher Harry Dyck. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Lerna. The Lions won the game, 7-3. In spite of the loss, Dyck was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Lerna reliever Allen Belote was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Matt Simmons took the loss for Topeka West. Lerna improves to 4-3 as they look to defend their championship.
Mark McGwire Jr. was the walk-off hero for Lerna. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Lions designated hitter hit a dramatic grand slam home run to send the teams home.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," McGwire Jr. told the Lerna Daily News.
