| Chargers Stay Hot, Beat Panthers | The Topeka West Chargers trumped the Derby Panthers, 5-3, at Breakers Ballpark. Topeka West designated hitter Kevin Hubbard was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Kevin Gurski earned save number 3. With their winning streak at 5, the Chargers have raced to a strong start this season.
Hubbard had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 3-1 fastball from Kyle Kellam, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Chargers a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Hubbard.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Hubbard. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
