| Mustangs Get Close Win Over Tigers | Tenafly got a terrific performance from pitcher Jay Buhner Jr., but it wasn't enough to beat the Downsview Mustangs. Downsview won the Ballpark of León HS contest, 5-2. Buhner Jr. was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. Downsview reliever Raul Jimenez got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Gil Pund was tagged with the loss. Josh Creevy nailed down his 1st save.
The Mustangs got a big at-bat from designated hitter Nick Earle. For the game, Earle went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Downsview a 5-2 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Downsview manager Ralph Prince.
The Mustangs, now 2-0, have hit the ground running this season.
