| Escoto goes 4-for-5, Patriots Move to 2-0 | The George Washington Patriots beat the Tioga Central Tigers, 14-7, at Osprey Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Rafael Escoto, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4-5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. George Washington reliever Sean Austin got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Billy Tichenor was tagged with the loss. The Patriots, now 2-0, have hit the ground running this season.
Gilbert Watkins, who is rated as the 46th best prospect by BNN, chipped in for George Washington with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Watkins.
