| Late Rally by Chargers Secures Win | Crowds lined up early in front of Breakers Ballpark, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2038 LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL season. On the mound was Pete Rose Jr. for the visiting Montreal Cardinals and George Brett Jr. for the hometown Topeka West Chargers. In a spirited contest, the Chargers pulled out the win, defeating the Cardinals by the score of 3-2. Earning player of the game honors was Pete Rose Jr..
Justin LaRue was the walk-off hero for Topeka West. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Chargers left fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"Big team win," LaRue said later.
