| Royales Lose, 4-3, at Ballpark of Chilliwack College | The Victoria Capitals topped the Montreal Royales, 4-3, in CANADIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE action at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. The player of the game was Victoria pitcher and Barquisimeto, Venezuela native Angel Pagan. Tim Sweetland, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Kelly Jayne earned save number 6.
Had Roger Berry not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Berry hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Capitals.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Montreal skipper Kamatari Inoue.
Today's win puts Victoria at 22-27, while Montreal falls to 20-29.
