| Capitals Come Back Late to Top Stars | Matt Roberts had a good game, but he could not keep the Niagara Stars from falling, 4-3, to the Victoria Capitals at Drummondville College Grounds. The Niagara third baseman was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk in the loss. Victoria reliever Ron Gillberry was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Bret Hollett took the loss. Victoria is now 21-26, while Niagara is 21-26.
The Capitals got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Tom Vallis. For the game, Vallis went 1-1 with a home run. In the top of the ninth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Victoria a 4-3 lead.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Niagara manager Miguel Ortega. "But we decided not to take it."
