| Capitals Need Extra Frames to Get Past Heat | The Victoria Capitals beat the Kelowna Heat, 9-6, at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. Victoria pinch hitter Bob Gifford earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Kelly Jayne in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Darrell Cuff took the loss. With the win, Victoria goes to 20-25, while the Heat fall to 24-21.
Gifford had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the tenth. On a 3-1 fastball from Darrell Cuff, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Capitals a 9-6 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Gifford.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Gifford.
