Royales Squelch Capitals Offense in Shutout Win

Montreal got a first-rate effort from pitcher Wallace Watkins, who frustrated Victoria hitters en route to a 3-0 Royales triumph at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. With the win, Montreal elevates its record to 1-1.

The Royales got a big at-bat from first baseman Bill Cluff. For the game, Cluff was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the seventh, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Montreal a 1-0 lead.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Cluff told the Montreal Bulletin.
