| Golden Bears Fall to .500 After Loss to Tigers | The LSU Tigers went home winners at South Paris College Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Ernie Cook. Cook silenced the California Golden Bears, enabling LSU to grab the 4-0 win. Cook, the winner, moves to 4-3. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 1 walk. California has now lost 4 in a row.
Brendan Grimes aided the LSU cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the catcher went 1-3 with a home run and a walk.
"It was just a matter of executing," said LSU manager Vicente Otero.
