| 5-Hit Game for York | Kyle York was at the head of a Arizona State hit parade today at Ballpark of Shiprock College. The first baseman went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Sun Devils to a 12-8 victory over the UCLA Bruins.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging York told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Bruins skipper Rick Osmond said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Kyle York singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Batting .302 to date, York has 7 home runs and 17 RBIs. |
