| Owls Continue Skid Thanks to Reese, Bulldogs | The Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated the Rice Owls, 5-3, in Rod Dedeaux League action at Crowley College Grounds, with Mississippi State third baseman Caleb Reese named player of the game. The save went to Travis Reeves, his 12th this season. The losing streak for Rice has now reached 4 games.
Nick Madonia drew 2 walks in 4 plate appearances for Mississippi State. The 19-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Mike Bult. It was his 21st walk of the season.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Madonia told reporters after the game.
