| Ragin Cajuns Lose, 6-3, at South Paris College Grounds | LSU beat Louisiana-Layfayette on the strength of starter Andy Fredricks's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 6-3 win. Fredricks, now 2-2, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Bobby Bruce recorded his 11th save for LSU.
Charlie Sproul, who is tied for 2nd in the RDL in doubles with 14, chipped in for LSU with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Fredricks said.
With the win, LSU goes to 19-24, while the Ragin Cajuns fall to 21-22.
