| Samuels Goes Wild, But Tigers Win | It was a fun time at Ballpark of Ridge College, where the South Illinois Salukis and Missouri Tigers tangled.
South Illinois left fielder Elijah Samuels had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Samuels was 3-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice, even as Missouri beat the Salukis, 10-7. Samuels was named the player of the game despite the loss. Missouri reliever Zach Clark picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Josh York was collared with the loss. Evan Sheldon finished the game for Missouri and earned his 17th save.
Joel Bothell, who is tied for 4th in the SBL in triples with 3, chipped in for Missouri with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Bothell told the Missouri Herald.
The win boosts the Tigers to 28-14. The loss puts the Salukis at 25-17.
