| Lichte Helps Bulldogs Run Win Streak to 7 | The Mississippi State Bulldogs dealt the Texas Longhorns a 8-1 loss at Ballpark of Celebration College. Tommie Lichte was the star on offense. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. David Hammond earned the win to go to 3-1. He allowed no earned runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. John Taylor sewed up the save, his 1st.
It could have been a different outcome for Mississippi State, had it not been for Joba Curtis, the 19-year old second baseman . Curtis contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Mississippi State up, 2-0.
