| Hops Come Back Late to Top G.o.D. | The Hops had to overcome a fine performance from Tonga pitcher Toa Fotu Taurus to grab a 4-2 win at Isle of Destiny. Taurus allowed 2 earned runs over 6.1 innings. Jimmy Shumaker notched his 11th save in 16 chances. San Diego's record now stands at 36-38, placing them 4th in the Roberto Clemente League Mike Brouillette Division.
The Hops got a big at-bat from third baseman Ruberto Sucena. For the game, Sucena went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave San Diego a 4-2 lead.
"Anyone who says he's not out there thinking about personal accomplishments is not telling the truth," Sucena said later.
