| Gruff Goes Off, But Golden Eagles Win | South Mississippi and Arizona duked it out at Red Wings Ballpark and the Golden Eagles came out victorious.
The inspired effort of Arizona designated hitter Mike Gruff was not enough to prevent a 8-6 loss to the South Mississippi Golden Eagles. Gruff belted 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Brett Lucido sewed up the save, his 1st.
Michael Kanaan aided the South Mississippi cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk.
Kanaan told a South Mississippi Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The Golden Eagles bumped their record to 25-16 with this latest triumph.
