| Hurricanes RF Murphy hits 9th home run in Win | Miami designated hitter Jimmy Murphy was a significant contributor in his team's 6-2 triumph over the North Carolina Tar Heels. He went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for Miami. Steve Harvey, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 5.1 innings. Pete Eastham was credited with the save for Miami, his 1st of the season.
It could have been a different outcome for Miami, had it not been for Adam Mitchell, the 19-year old second baseman . Mitchell contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Miami up, 2-0.

The Hurricanes bumped their record to 21-19 with this latest triumph.
