| Hoyle drives in 4 runs, Tar Heels Move to 21-14 | North Carolina catcher Greg Hoyle played a vital role in his team's 14-8 triumph over Florida. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for North Carolina. North Carolina reliever Byron Hughes picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. A.J. McNeill took the loss. The Tar Heels have now won 4 straight.
Had Hoyle not come through in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Hoyle drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Tar Heels never looked back after taking the 9-8 lead.
Hoyle expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
