So Cal right fielder Gerd Zabel had a good game, even if his team did not. The Republic dropped a 5-3 decision to Tonga at Isle of Destiny. Zabel slugged 2 home runs. Reliever Justin Davidov picked up the win. His record improves to 3-2. Pat Meskill took the loss. Robinson Merrado notched his 16th save in 21 chances.

Hikuleo Tai'mani aided the Tonga cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder was 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

Tai'mani called the win "a collective effort."
