Richards Helps USC Cruise to 11-3 Win

It was a fun time at Nesquehoning College Fields, where the Long Beach State 49'ers and USC Trojans tangled.

The USC Trojans met little resistance from the Long Beach State 49'ers, beating them 11-3 at Nesquehoning College Fields. Justin Richards led the way. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 6 runs and scored once for USC. Dave Hollingsworth picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-0. Chris Lowry was tagged with the loss.

The Trojans got a big at-bat from first baseman Rickey Bates. For the game, Bates went 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 27th hit of the season gave USC a 2-1 lead.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Tommy Hayes said.

USC now sits in 16th place in the Cliff Gustafson at 15-16.
