| Hurricanes Get Past Tennessee for 5-4 Win | Tennessee left fielder Ryan Schulz had a good game, even if his team did not. The Volunteers dropped a 5-4 decision to Miami at Madera College Grounds. Schulz was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. The win was credited to Pete Eastham in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Chris Roller took the loss. Miami, at 14-15, occupies 12th place in the Ron Fraser Division.
Had Cullen Fernandez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Fernandez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Hurricanes.
In postgame comments, Fernandez told the Miami Citizen: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
