| Late Rally by Bombers Secures Win | The South Carolina Bombers faced a tough opponent in Quebec pitcher Xavier Maya, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Lucky 7 Ballpark by a final score of 4-2. Maya went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Charlie Wife picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. José López was tagged with the loss. Bruce Berardi was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 12 save opportunities.
The Bombers got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Dave Ryder. For the game, Ryder went 1 for 1 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 10th double of the season gave South Carolina a 3-2 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Ryder told the South Carolina Bulletin. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
At 32-39, the Bombers find themselves in 5th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
