| Cougars Fall Short at Stanford | The Stanford Cardinals did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Washington State Cougars at Surfers Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Danny Ferry, who captured player of the game honors. Stanford reliever Jake Husmann got the win, raising his record to 1-2. Bill Cosenza was tagged with the loss. The Cardinals are now 10-18, while the Cougars fall to 12-16.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from center fielder Christian Reese. For the game, Reese went 1 for 3 with a triple and was hit by a pitch. In the bottom of the eighth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Stanford a 4-3 lead.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Ferry.
