| Golden Eagles Bang Out 7-4 Win Versus Fresno State | South Mississippi played host to Fresno State at the friendly confines of Ballpark of Storm Lake College.
The South Mississippi Golden Eagles beat the Fresno State Bulldogs, 7-4, at Ballpark of Storm Lake College. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Danny Magner, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Andrew Benton earned the save, his 10th, for the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles got a big at-bat from second baseman Michael Kanaan. For the game, Kanaan was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 24th hit of the season gave South Mississippi a 6-4 lead.
"I like to lead by example," said Kanaan. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."
The Golden Eagles bumped their record to 15-12 with this latest triumph.
