| Longhorns Win at USC, 8-2 | The Texas Longhorns beat the USC Trojans, 8-2, at Nesquehoning College Fields. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman John Roper, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The Longhorns, now 11-16, know that wins in April count the same as wins in September.
Texas grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Roper hit a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season put the Longhorns out in front, 2-0.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Longhorns manager Brandon Desforges. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
