| Pyke Goes Wild, But Demon Deacans Win | It was a good time at Cypress Quarters College Grounds, where fans came to watch the Miami Hurricanes and Wake Forest Demon Deacans get after it.
The Miami Hurricanes got a superb performance from right fielder Joe Pyke. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Wake Forest. The Demon Deacans won the game, 8-6. In spite of the loss, Pyke was named the player of the game. He was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The save was credited to Ryan LeBlanc, his 7th.
John Hoover aided the Wake Forest cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Hoover said after the game.
The Demon Deacans bumped their record to 13-13 with this latest triumph.
