| Big Day for Roth as Commodores Down Cavaliers, 15-4 | The Vanderbilt Commodores downed the Virginia Cavaliers, 15-4, at Ballpark of Redwood College. Austin Roth led the way, going 3-for-5 for Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt reliever Mike Pollard picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-1. Jerry Davies was collared with the loss. The Commodores now own a record of 12-14.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the third, with the game tied, Steve Bowers was at the plate when Vanderbilt scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Commodores to go in front, 2-1.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Roth said after the game.
