Chancellor Goes Wild, But Ducks Win

The Rice Owls got a superb performance from first baseman Bobby Chancellor. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Oregon. The Ducks won the game, 9-6. In spite of the loss, Chancellor was named the player of the game. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Jack Twyman picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-1. He struck out 8 in 5 innings. The win boosts the Ducks to 15-11. The loss puts the Owls at 16-10.

Jim Saunders went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Oregon. The 21-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Seth Childress. It was his 13th RBI of the season.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Saunders said after the game.
