Bulldogs Turn Back Oregon, 6-5

The Fresno State Bulldogs did just enough to secure a 6-5 victory over the Oregon Ducks at Crunch Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Joe Salerno, who captured player of the game honors. Salerno got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 5 innings. Salerno allowed 2 earned runs. Chris Hancock recorded his 6th save for Fresno State.

D.J. Cohen, who is tied for 6th in the RDL in RBI with 26, aided the Fresno State cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Salerno said.

The first-place Bulldogs have a one-game lead in their division.
