| Hopkins Torches Owls for 5 Hits | It was a sensational day at the plate for Chris Hopkins as he led the charge to a 19-4 win over the Owls. The California first baseman was pure misery for the Rice pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Hopkins put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Jimmy Naylor, manager for the Owls, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Chris Hopkins hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Steve Ayers in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
So far this season Hopkins has gotten 16 hits in 70 at-bats for a .229 batting average with 6 home runs. His stats include 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He has played in 20 games. |
