| Gamecocks Lose, 10-7, at Castles Ballpark | Devin Newman was instrumental in his team's 10-7 triumph over the South Carolina Gamecocks. The first baseman went 3-3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech reliever Mike Mudd picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Brian Sherman was saddled with the loss. Picking up the save was Mike Dutcher, his 4th.
Bill Kimerling found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing South Carolina hurler Brian Sherman, the 19-year-old third baseman hit a sacrifice fly. His 3rd RBI of the season put the Yellow Jackets on top, 8-7.
