Rebels Turn Back TCU, 7-5

TCU got a terrific game from right fielder Ricky Griner. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Ole Miss, 7-5. Griner was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Ole Miss reliever Ryan Mercier picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Rob McCown was saddled with the loss. Eric Fredericks earned the save for Ole Miss, his 6th.

John Mastin drew 1 walk for Ole Miss. The 20-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Rob McCown. It was his 9th walk of the season.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Mastin said.

The Rebels sit in 21st place in the Cliff Gustafson with a record of 8-14.
