| Bruins Get Past Washington State for 5-4 Win | Despite a fine performance by first baseman Joe Kochendorfer, the Washington State Cougars suffered a 5-4 loss to the UCLA Bruins. Kochendorfer was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. Bob Bradley earned the save, his 5th, for the Bruins. The Cougars, now 7-14, have lost 5 straight.
Had Nick Schindler not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Schindler hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Bruins.
