Titans Pitching Ravaged by Sanders

It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Steve Sanders today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Hartford College Grounds and paced the Owls to a 9-7 win over the Cal State Fullerton Titans.

After his dynamite batting performance, the Rice left fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."

His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Steve Sanders singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Arden in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

For the season Sanders is hitting .323, batted in 9 runs with 3 home runs and 16 runs scored.
