| 49'ers Lose, 12-5, at Ballpark of Wrightsville College | The Ole Miss Rebels defeated the Long Beach State 49'ers, 12-5, at Ballpark of Wrightsville College today. Leading the charge for Ole Miss was designated hitter David Derrick. He went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The win was credited to Russ Clark in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Bob Lober took the loss. Even with the win, the Rebels have a dismal 7-13 record.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth when Derrick hit a grand slam home run. It propelled the Rebels into the lead, 6-2.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Derrick told the Ole Miss News.
