| Saipe Excels, But Cavaliers Win | The Kansas Jayhawks got a superb performance from right fielder Chris Saipe, but the Virginia Cavaliers still won the game, 8-6. Saipe was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Virginia reliever Sean Bradbury picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Brad Busler was saddled with the loss. The save was credited to Mike Battles, his 1st.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the bottom of the second inning. That's when right fielder Josh Yack, who is tied for 9th in the SBL in triples with 1, drew a walk. The Cavaliers went on to win.
"Enjoyed this one," Yack told the Virginia Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Jayhawks have now dropped 5 straight.
