| Beavers Stymie South Mississippi, Take 4-1 Win | Oregon State designated hitter Ryan Payton made his presence felt in the 4-1 Beavers triumph over the South Mississippi Golden Eagles. Payton was 1-4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Oregon State reliever Julian Carter picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jeremy Brown was saddled with the loss. The save was credited to Bill Thackeray, his 2nd.
Oregon State grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Payton hit a 2-run single. His 9th hit of the season put the Beavers out in front, 2-0.
"Enjoyed this one," Payton told the Oregon State Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Beavers bumped their record to 10-9 with this latest triumph.
