Big Day by Delmont Ignites Hornets Win

It was a fun time at The Nest, where the Bloomington Blazers and Eureka Hornets tangled.

The Eureka Hornets beat the Bloomington Blazers, 10-6, at The Nest. The Hornets got a fine performance from first baseman Brian Delmont, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Juan Mendoza got the win, improving to 5-6. He held the Blazers to 2 earned runs on 2 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 4.

The Hornets had to work out of trouble in the top of the sixth. The score was 5-2, Eureka, with one out. Bloomington, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Mike Burge dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 fastball, he flied out.
