Fans who came to Toughkenamon College Fields watched the Rice Owls and the Houston Cougars fight to the finish.

The Rice Owls eked out a 8-7 win versus the Houston Cougars at Toughkenamon College Fields. Nobody did more than pitcher Jamie Burnett, who captured player of the game honors. The Owls have an impressive 11-6 record.

The Owls got a big at-bat from center fielder Jon Thompson. For the game, Thompson was 1-1 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Rice a 2-0 lead.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Houston manager Jeffrey Coffman. "The effort was great."
