| Owls Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win | The Rice Owls beat the Arizona Wildcats, 4-3 at Red Wings Ballpark, in part due to designated hitter Sam Powell, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Daniel Cashier got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Rice now has a 4-game win streak.
One important at-bat for Rice came with one out in the top of the ninth inning. With a runner on 1st, Powell hit a 2-run home run, which contributed to the Owls win.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Rice manager Jimmy Naylor.
