| Brown goes 3-for-4, Leads Bears to Win | Getting a good performance from right fielder Jeff Brown, the Baylor Bears defeated the UCLA Bruins, 4-2. Brown was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Bears. Baylor reliever Eric Young was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Ian Boyd. The save was Justin McNamee's, his 2nd.
Brown had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-1 curveball from Matt Getz, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Bears a 4-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Brown.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said UCLA skipper Rick Osmond, "and it cost us."
The 19th-place Bears now have a win-loss record of 5-8.
