| Golden Eagles Solve Aggies, 4-3 | The Texas A&M Aggies got a sterling performance from pitcher Brent Herk, but the Golden Eagles still prevailed, 4-3. Herk was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. South Mississippi reliever Chris Shapiro was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Brent Herk. Andrew Benton earned the save, his 6th, for the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles got a big at-bat from catcher Dan Brady. For the game, Brady was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave South Mississippi a 2-0 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Texas A&M skipper Richie Robertson, "and it cost us."
The Golden Eagles bumped their record to 8-5 with this latest triumph.
