| Golden Eagles Edge Ragin Cajuns, 1-0 | South Mississippi turned a good effort from starter Ramon Santiago into a win over the Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns at Ballpark of Storm Lake College. The final score was 1-0. South Mississippi reliever Jeremy Drury got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Mike Jordan was tagged with the loss. Andrew Benton picked up the save for South Mississippi, his 5th of the year.
Had Jaime Bickers not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Bickers hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Golden Eagles.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Bickers told the South Mississippi Herald.
The Golden Eagles bumped their record to 7-5 with this latest triumph.
