| Multi-HR Game for Leonard in 9-8 Win | Behind the bravura of first baseman Mike Leonard, the Houston Cougars topped the Washington State Cougars by the score of 9-8. Leonard went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for the Cougars. Chris McBride earned the save, his 1st. The Cougars bumped their record to 6-5 with this latest triumph.
Leonard contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Houston in the top of the ninth. With his team trailing 8-5, Leonard took a fastball from Chris Green and stroked the home run to right. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Cougars to leap in front, 9-8.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Leonard told the Houston Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
