| Hurricanes Turn Back Clemson, 3-2 | The Miami Hurricanes scored a 3-2 win versus the Clemson Tigers at Gremlins Ballpark. Miami pitcher Dave Baker nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Baker, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Jesse Jensen picked up the save for Miami, his 3rd of the year.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, center fielder Eric Maloney came through big-time for the Hurricanes. With Miami leading 2-1, he belted a solo home run.
"That's baseball," said Clemson manager Miguel Angel Ortíz. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
The losing skid has reached 7 games for Clemson.
