| Horned Frogs Top Beavers in Extras | The Horned Frogs grabbed a win, 5-4, at Dingoes Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Oregon State pitcher Patrick Blakey. Blakey went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Ray Torrence got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. TCU is off to a hot start at 6-3.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when TCU third baseman Rick Peck, facing Paul Munoz, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Horned Frogs the 5-4 win.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Oregon State manager Mike Cole.
