Back Lifts Cavaliers to 14-8 Triumph

The Virginia Cavaliers downed the South Carolina Gamecocks, 14-8, at Ballpark of Redwood College. Chris Back led the way, going 2-for-3 for Virginia. Virginia reliever Tim Pickett picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Brendan Skinner was collared with the loss. Virginia is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 3rd in 8 games.

Tyler Ammons aided the Virginia cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman drew 3 walks.

"We take it day by day here," said Ammons, "and today was a good one for us."
