Leonard Goes Off, But Golden Eagles Win

Houston first baseman Mike Leonard had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Leonard was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4, even as South Mississippi beat the Cougars, 7-6. Leonard was named the player of the game despite the loss. Andrew Benton recorded the save for South Mississippi, his 2nd of the season. With the win, South Mississippi pushes its record to 4-3.

Michael Kanaan aided the South Mississippi cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles.
