Buckeyes Lose, 5-3, at Ballpark of Bismarck College

Ohio State designated hitter Ryan Gaines had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Gaines was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times, even as Florida beat the Buckeyes, 5-3. Gaines was named the player of the game despite the loss. David Bisson got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4.1 innings. Rich Reimer recorded the save for Florida, his 3rd of the season.

The Gators got a big at-bat from center fielder Brian Campbell. For the game, Campbell went 1 for 3 with a hit by pitch. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 7th hit of the season gave Florida a 4-3 lead.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Florida manager Torazo Yamamoto.

The Gators, now 5-2, have hit the ground running this season.
